DESCRIPTION

TheADS1282isanextremelyhigh-performance,single-chipanalog-to-digitalconverter(ADC)withanintegrated,low-noiseprogrammablegainamplifier(PGA)andtwo-channelinputmultiplexer(MUX).TheADS1282issuitableforthedemandingneedsofenergyexplorationandseismicmonitoringenvironments.

Theconverterusesafourth-order,inherentlystable,delta-sigma(ΔΣ)modulatorthatprovidesoutstandingnoiseandlinearityperformance.Themodulatorisusedeitherinconjunctionwiththeon-chipdigitalfilter,orcanbebypassedforusewithpostprocessingfilters.

TheflexibleinputMUXprovidesanadditionalexternalinputformeasurement,aswellasinternalself-testconnections.ThePGAfeaturesoutstandinglownoise(5nV/√Hz)andhighinputimpedance,allowingeasyinterfacingtogeophonesandhydrophonesoverawiderangeofgains.

Thedigitalfilterprovidesselectabledataratesfrom250to4000samplespersecond(SPS).Thehigh-passfilter(HPF)featuresanadjustablecornerfrequency.On-chipgainandoffsetscalingregisterssupportsystemcalibration.

Thesynchronizationinput(SYNC)canbeusedtosynchronizetheconversionsofmultipleADS1282s.TheSYNCinputalsoacceptsaclockinputforcontinuousalignmentofconversionsfromanexternalsource.

Twooperatingmodesallowoptimizationofnoiseandpower.Together,theamplifier,modulator,andfilterdissipate25mWandonly17mWinlow-powermode.TheADS1282isavailableinacompactTSSOP-28packageandisfullyspecifiedfrom–40°Cto+85°C,withamaximumoperatingrangeto+125°C.
