广西大学成人教育考试试卷

Examine each concern and determine a course of action to minimize that potential problem. You'll quickly discover that you can take an appropriate countermeasure for just every fear you have about speaking.

Know the Introduction of the Talk: Anxiety is typically highest at the start of a presentation If you carefully plan the introduction of your presentation, and you know it very well, you can confidently get through the early part of your presentation.

Practice Your Presentation: Each practice helps you become familiar with what you want to say, and helps you experiment with different ways of communicating your message. Practice aloud rather than silently, practice in front of a \"test\" audience if you can, and practice the full presentation rather than just parts of it. But note, you cannot practice too much. So, stop practicing once you discover that you're losing enthusiasm for what you will be saying.

Familiarize Yourself with the Place Where You'll Be Speaking: Try to practice the speech at least once in the room where you'll give it. A classroom that you've been in a hundred times before may suddenly look different if you're at the front speaking to the class. Be sure to practice with any equipment that you'll be using, such as an overhead projector. 21. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage? A. Making Yourself Confident

B.Making Your Presentation Perfect C. How to Be a Good Audience

B. A measure or an action taken to counter or offset another one.

C. An official action that is intended to deal with a particular problem. D. A sign of the importance, strength, etc. of something. 24. When should you stop practicing your presentation? A. When you lose your passion for your presentation. B. When you are familiar, with your presentation. C. When you know your audience well. D. When you don't feel nervous any more. 25. Which of the following statements is NOT true?

A. Before speaking, you should make sure that the equipment you plan to use is ready. B. The classroom you are familiar with may be different when you give a speech. C. You'd better practice your presentation as much as possible.

Task 2

Loch Ness(尼斯湖) is a lake resulting from a movement in the earth's crust. It is the largest body of fresh water in Britain. There is more water in Loch Ness than all the other lakes in England, Scotland and Wales put together.

Because of the great amount of water in the loch a thermocline (温跃层) lies at around 100 feet down in the loch. The top 100 feet of water changes temperature depending on the weather conditions but below the thermocline the temperature never changes from 44 degrees Fahrenheit. So, as the surface water cools in winter and nears freezing point, it sinks and is replaced by warmer water from below. This can cause the loch to steam on very cold days. In fact it has been estimated that the heat given off by the loch in winter is equivalent to burning two million tons of coal.

It is said that the residents around the loch used to tell their children stories of the kelpie(马形水鬼) to keep them away from the dark dangerous waters of the loch. The story is of a horrible beast that lived in the loch and when hungry would leave its watery home and change itself into a beautiful horse which would wait for some unlucky traveler to climb on its back. Then it would jump straight into the loch and feed on its victim.

Most people think that the Loch Ness monster first appeared in the 1930's and it is certain from this time that the loch became famous. However, sightings of something unusual in the loch

date back much further than this. 26. Loch Ness was caused by . A. an active volcano

28. On very cold days, the steam on the loch is caused by . A. the rising of warmer water from the deeper part of the loch B. the burning of tons of coal

C. the cold air on the surface of the loch

D. the change of large amounts of fresh water to seawater 29. The stories of the kelpie would . A. discourage children from playing near the loch B. keep children away from horses

You'd have to volunteer two hours a week for one semester. You can choose to help a child with math, English, or both. Half-hour lessons are fine, so you could do a half hour of each subject two days a week.

Professor Dodge will act as a mentor to the tutors — he'll be available to help you with lesson plans or to offer suggestions for activities. He has office hours every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. You can sign up for the program with him and begin the tutoring next week. I'm sure you'll enjoy this community service … and you'll gain valuable experience at the same time. It looks good on your resume, too, showing that you've had experience with children and that you care about your community. If you'd like to sign up, or if you have any questions, stop by Professor Dodge's office this week.
